Synopsis: |
Obesity involves a state of chronic “low-grade” inflammation in adipose tissue, which predisposes to obesity-related comorbidities, such as insulin resistance and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Although omega-6 PUFA–derived proinflammatory eicosanoids initially trigger the inflammatory response, in time, there is a switch to the formation of anti-inflammatory and proresolving omega-3 PUFA–derived lipid autacoids, such as resolvins and protectins, which participate in the resolution of adipose tissue inflammation and in preventing the development of obesity-related complications. |

Synopsis: |
Resolvins are newly identified lipid mediators that are endogenously biosynthesized from omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in the course of acute inflammation and its resolution. Resolvins regulate immune cell functions and display potent anti-inflammatory properties both in vitro and in vivo. This review focuses on the chemical structure, biosynthesis, and bioactivities of resolvins in regulating immune systems. |

Synopsis: |
Research in the medical and psychological fields has primarily followed a “disease-focused” approach to health. Although there is growing research on the components and outcomes of well-being, very few studies have focused on interventions that produce optimal functioning and human flourishing. This observational study was developed to address this research gap by considering the salutogentic effects of a yoga program and found that improvement can occur even from a baseline of health. |

Synopsis: |
Rett syndrome (RS) is a neurological disease affecting mainly females, characterized by an arrest of brain development caused by an X-linked mutation. The disease has been traced to a defective gene called MECP2. This review of aging with RS revealed very few studies, but the published case studies showed that females with RS can live even to the age of 79 years. |
